The lawyers at LMA have extensive experience in advising clients on real estate development, construction and conveyancing matters. Such services include legal advice and due diligence for clients investing in real estate, drafting legal documentation for property acquisition and construction as well as negotiating terms of appointments on behalf of national construction companies in relation to infrastructure construction projects. Additionally, our real estate team handles conveyancing, mutations and registrations on behalf of our clients before various land registries and registrars of assurances. In contentious matters, we represent parties at all legal forums in relation to property ownership, rent and construction disputes.

The team has advised the owners and operators of Pakistan’s leading hotels in relation to all their conveyancing and property law issues. We also provided legal representation in relation to the Bamiyan Hospital Project in Afghanistan and the Peace Hawk V project in Saudi Arabia as well as development/ building projects in Kuwait, Iraq, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Libya.

Our team has been appointed to prepare finance, security and ancillary documents to be used by a local finance institution and its customers for the purchase of property units in Lahore. In this respect we have reviewed and advised our client, from time to time, on its side agreements, documentation and understandings.

We regularly review title deeds of immovable properties and advise banks and financial institutions on financing against immovable property and preparation of sale deeds, assignment deeds and mortgage documents.

  • LMA has been acting for the Marine Group in respect of a proposed building construction project to be developed by Epicair and Nabeel Corporation. LMA has advised the client on the structure of the project and has drafted/ reviewed the MOU between the developers and the Joint Venture Agreement. LMA has also advised on the amalgamation of properties and the transfer of land for the proposed project. In respect of the matter, LMA has provided detailed advice to the client from time to time on building laws and procedures, as well as related corporate matters.

  • LMA is currently engaged by Meezan Bank as the transaction legal counsel for the development of a state of the art hospital in Bahria Town, Islamabad, Pakistan. As part of its services, LMA shall be advising on various relevant licenses required and agreements and contracts required in respect of the actual construction and establishment of the hospital.

  • LMA was engaged by Standard Chartered Bank to provide legal advice and services pertaining to the regularisation of title to 25 commercial and non-commercial immovable properties into the name of SCB following the acquisition of the properties by SCB. The aforementioned acquisition arose pursuant to various amalgamations approved by the State Bank of Pakistan under section 48 of the Banking Companies Ordinance, 1962 under which the (i) Chartered Bank of India, Australia & China, (ii) Grindlays Bank Plc, (iii) National and Grindlays Bank Limited, (iv) Standard Chartered Grindlays Bank, and (v) Union Bank Limited (Predecessor Banks) were ultimately amalgamated with and into SCB. As per the terms of the various schemes of amalgamation, the undertakings, properties, assets, liabilities and all rights and obligations of the Predecessor Banks were amalgamated with and vested in SCB. Subsequent to the amalgamations, LMA provided extensive legal advice and opinions on the regularisation and transfer of title of the 25 properties (which were owned and registered in the names of the Predecessor Banks) into the name of SCB as the new owner of the properties.
