Darakhshan Sheikh Vohra is a graduate of the University of Bristol, UK, having completed her LLB (Hons.) from Bristol and her BA from the University of Karachi.

Darakhshan Sheikh Vohra is a leading corporate lawyer in Pakistan, having almost twenty years of experience in advising and representing both local and international clients in a vast array of practice areas. She led the team advising the Privatization Commission, Government of Pakistan on the divestment of the remaining stake of GOP’s shareholding in Habib Bank Limited. This prestigious advisory included review of documents relating to the international placements in so far as the same were impacted by Pakistan law, as well as the local public offering of shares and also included complex regulatory advice relating to the SBP, SECP, CDC, GOP (MOF) and the Stock Exchanges of Pakistan. In the area of capital markets, this transaction was not only the largest equity placement in the history of Pakistan, but also the largest equity offering in the history of the Asian Frontier Markets.

Darakhshan is also very active on the fronts relating to both power and energy projects, as well as mergers and acquisitions, having advised on projects which straddle both practice areas, as they involved acquisitions in respect of notable power projects in Pakistan. Her strength lies in the firm’s traditional area of banking and finance and she continues to advise on all aspects relating to this practice area, including project finance, structured finance and acquisition financing, to name a few.

In addition to the above, Darakhshan’s areas of expertise are company and commercial law, derivatives, construction, information technology and software contracts, insurance, franchise and distribution network agreements, data protection and competition laws.
